Who should buy the Pro Ultimate Elongated
Buy it if you're a tennis or squash convert, or a 4.0+ power player, who wants a stiff, solid, connected feel. Gearbox's one-piece carbon-rib construction - a single carbon frame, not a honeycomb sandwich - gives a uniquely firm, low-vibration response that holds explosive pop while adding more control than the old Pro Power. The banger's best friend.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you like a soft, plush trampoline off the face - the stiff one-piece build is the opposite of that, and the feel is polarizing enough to need an adjustment period. Beginners and intermediates will find the pop and price too much, and touch-first control players will find it unforgiving on resets.
The main tradeoff
The one-piece stiffness tennis converts love is exactly what soft-hands players dislike. You get a connected, solid, explosive drive at the cost of plush forgiveness and a springy trampoline pop - and it takes some games to adjust.
Is it worth it?
At $274.99 you're paying for a construction nobody else makes. For the tennis convert or hard-swinging banger who wants that stiff, solid feel and explosive drive, it's worth it. For everyone else, a honeycomb power paddle delivers more conventional, forgiving pop for less.
